Ger Carey Live
On Thursday the 2nd of October the whole year group went to see Ger Carey’s stand-up comedy show at the Firkin Crane Theatre. We left school after the first class and walked to the Firkin Crane. The show consisted of Ger talking about things that happen in teenager’s everyday lives. He spoke a lot about school, everything was very relatable and had us all in fits of laughter. Our favourite part of the show was when he was mocking all the girls and our uniforms. We were quite surprised at how funny the show was as many of us didn’t think that a one man show would be very humorous but Ger proved us wrong. Presentation Brothers College and Terence MacSweeney Community School also attended. We all laughed from the very beginning till the very end. It was a great show which we all enjoyed.

Junior Cert Results
On Wednesday the 10th of September we received our junior cert results. We all waited nervously until 12.30, when we were called to the chapel. Mr Curran and Ms O Donavan presented each girl with their results. Everyone was really happy and had a great night celebrating. Everyone came into school the next day absolutely wrecked for the celebrations the night before but everyone was still thrilled with the wonderful results. Some girls even achieved 10 and 11a’s. The results overall we so outstanding, the whole school was given a half day.

Pizza Day
A pizza day was organised to raise money for our trip to Calcutta with The Hope Foundation. It was quite difficult to plan but once we got the hang of it, it was a success. To get a rough number of the students interested we went around to all the classrooms. We found that the first years were very enthusiastic. We made posters asking people to bring in their money at break time of the Monday and Tuesday of the next week. This was so we wouldn’t interrupt class time and it worked quite well. People bought a slice for €2.50 or a can and a slice for €3.50. We gave out raffle tickets as a proof of payment and took down their names on a list in case they lost the tickets. We took a gamble when ordering the pizza and ordered nearly double than what had been prepaid for. I put in the order for 28 large pizzas, asked for permission to host the pizza day in the P.E. hall and enlisted my fellow TY students to help. On the day it was a huge success, we had just enough pizza to meet the demand with two spare for our hungry helpers. Debra sold the tickets and Kinga took pictures of the day. Most importantly, thanks to the students’ generosity we raised over €120 each!By Debra Daly, Kinga Pelowska , Róisín Neville 4a
The Ploughing Championships 2014
On the 25th of October fourth years went to the ploughing championships in Ratheniska, co Laois. The buses departed from the school at seven am and arrived at the ploughing at around half 10. Once we arrived we swapped our tickets for wrist bands we were let roam the ploughing by ourselves. The 700 acres of land were covered in tents from various organisations around Ireland including Aldi, TG4 and FBD. Free stuff was being handed out from pens to food to the odd hoodie from TG4. We met Nicki Byrne in the RTE tent which was a surprise as no one knew he would be there! We also took part in the drumming workshops in the Irish aid tent. We donated to Barretstown and got our faces painted as well. After a couple of hours we were starving and decided to get an ice cream. By the time we got back to the buses we were exhausted and ready to get back home.
