All 90 of our first years went to visit the Discovery Science exhibition in the City Hall as part of our Science Week celebrations. Read all about it below. You can also see some photos of the girls on the Evening Echo website http://www.photosales.eecho.ie/v/photos/74373pks/1059393010?pcp=101
City Hall Science Fair
On the 18th of November first years went to the science fair in City Hall.
When we arrived there we immediately saw all of the amazing experiments and exhibits. There were stalls from animals and fossils to cyber bulling and army exhibits. The first stall I went to was about fossils. I was able to see insects under the microscope and fossils of beetles that were over 49.5 MILLION years old! It was amazing and so interesting. There was a stall and it was a game where you went up against a friend and you had to get the balls into a box; you weren’t doing it by hand you were using a controller to control a robot. There was a giant blow up digestive system and you walked through it and the people there telling you all about your digestive system. I thought I knew quite a lot but afterwards I knew even more!
There was a room where they taught you how to build a burglar alarm and members of the army showing you all of their equipment. There was a giant ’operation’ as well. I know that from that day if I want to be a surgeon I’ll have to work extra hard!! I remember when the teacher said that we were leaving that none of us wanted to leave!! I really hope I’ll get to go again next year but you never know!
Thanks so much to the teachers who brought us and to Mr. Curran and Ms O’Donovan who arranged it all.

Our 1st years and 3rd years had fun making some discoveries for themselves during Science Week. The periscope building proved challenging for the 3rd years!
