Dear Parents/Guardians,
As you know, the CAO application system opened on November 6th. I have completed the CAO demo in the 6th Year Career classes just before TLA1, and encouraged students to set up their CAO application forms so we can continue to work on them in the coming weeks. There are 4 supplementary parts to the CAO application form, which are in addition to the course application section.
1. Exemption Applications.
2. HEAR – Higher Education Access Route – https://accesscollege.ie/hear/ A financial support system.
3. SUSI – The Irish Grant authority. https://www.susi.ie/
4. DARE – Disability Access Route to Education – supporting students with Learning Difficulties, Mental Health or Physical Health diagnosis/es. https://accesscollege.ie/dare/
We are running a DARE Workshop in school for 6th Years applying for DARE+CAO in 2024. This is compulsary for students making a DARE application. It is taking place on December 6th from 8.55-11.10. We are aware of many of our students who will be making DARE applications, but perhaps there are some students whom we are not aware of. We would ask that students or parents/guardians make contact with either myself or Ms Kelly as soon as possible, if you have questions or inquiries regarding same. The purpose of the workshop is to help students complete Section A and to feel fully competent with what they must do in order to complete Section B and C. The submission date for Section B+C is March 15th. Students must have registered for the CAO before attending the workshop.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Many thanks.
Ms Niav Gallagher (Guidance Counsellor)
