At St Angela’s College, we are committed to providing an inclusive, equitable and respectful learning environment where every student is supported to reach her full potential. Our approach to Learning Support and Additional Educational Needs (AEN) is grounded in our core values of care, dignity, belonging and wellbeing, ensuring that each student is recognised as an individual with unique strengths and needs.
Guided by national best practice and a whole-school approach, we support students across a broad range of needs including academic, social, emotional, behavioural, sensory and physical needs.
Our dedicated AEN team works collaboratively with students, parents, teachers and external agencies to provide tailored supports, which may include:
- In-class support through team teaching and inclusive practices
- Targeted small-group and individual support
- Literacy, numeracy and organisational skills development
- Assistive technology and reasonable accommodations
- Guidance around assessment arrangements, including State Examinations
Support is provided in line with the Continuum of Support framework, ensuring that interventions are responsive, flexible and based on each student’s evolving needs.
We place a strong emphasis on student voice, independence and confidence, encouraging each student to actively engage in her own learning journey while feeling safe, understood and valued within our school community.
In September 2026, we are proud to open our new Special Class, further enhancing our inclusive provision. This will provide a structured and supportive environment for students with additional needs, while also promoting meaningful integration into the life of the school.
Through our Bí Cineálta approach, we ensure that inclusion is not simply a support structure, but a lived experience—where every student feels respected, supported and empowered to belong.
