Congratulations to the YSI girls on their project on Direct Provision being shortlisted for the finals of the competition this year. Their project worked on raising awareness on the topic of direct provision in Ireland, and creating experiences for families living in Direct Provision. They developed an information campaign in the school and through their social media page, fundraised for events such as a cinema trip, “Zip It” experience, and a day at Fota Wildlife Park for the participants. They also wrote to Politicians, calling for a review of the current system, organised a workshop with Pamela Uba, Miss Ireland who grew up in Direct Provision and were interviewed by 96fm on their story, further spreading awareness of their campaign. Well done girls on your incredible work for social justice girls and best of luck in the finals.
