Last week was Home Economics week in St Angela’s College.
It was a great opportunity to display some of the work completed by the students in Home Economics class. There was a hive of activity around the display of the crafts and baking. Many thanks to all the students who entered the daily quiz. Staff and students enjoyed the foodie treats which were prepared during the week.
A variety of activities were held to mark Home Economics week including the following:
Daily quiz with a Home Economics related question open to all students.
Monday: Senior cake competition – Springtime theme. The winner was Jessica Lovett- TY and the runner up was Julia Gornowicz-TY.
Nutrition talk and careers in the Food Industry for Transition years.
Tuesday – Thursday: 2nd year Cupcake Competition – Valentine’s theme. The winners were Emma Kirby, Ciara Butler and Abbie Sugrue.
Wednesday: Healthy snacks – Raspberry, greek yoghurt and homemade granola and Mango and ginger smoothies for students and staff.
Thursday: 1st year Food Pun Poster Competition. The winners were Anna Scott, Emily Terry and Eve Jack.
Breakfast morning on Thursday and Friday: 8.30 am – for 5th and 6th year Home Economics classes.
Friday: Sweet and savoury snacks for staff morning break.
A huge thanks to the TY Nutrition class and 4B who were actively involved in the planning and organisation of the activities.
