Our school marked International Women’s Day with a meaningful celebration centred on the theme of Unity. The day brought our community together through a range of activities designed to promote reflection, awareness, and inspiration. Students participated in mindfulness sessions, encouraging wellbeing and self-care, while a vibrant Purple Day was held in support of Women’s Aid, highlighting solidarity with women affected by domestic abuse.
A key highlight of the day was a special panel discussion featuring inspiring past pupils and distinguished guest speakers. Katherine O’Donnell shared her powerful work advocating for justice and her contributions to social change and education. Fiona Curtin spoke about her global career in marketing and leadership, encouraging students to pursue ambition with creativity and confidence. Rathnait Long highlighted her journey in engineering and innovation, inspiring interest in STEM through her leadership and mentorship.
Louise Crowley emphasised the importance of education, legal awareness, and advocacy in creating safer and more equitable communities. Deirdre Sommers reflected on her experience breaking barriers in the financial sector, while Eimear Wall shared her unique global career path, demonstrating resilience and adaptability in traditionally male-dominated fields.
Together, these events created a powerful and uplifting day, celebrating the achievements of women, encouraging unity, and inspiring students to recognise their own potential to make a difference.
