Molly Lyons (6th Year) gave a most impressive speech and introduction today to the 6th Years and the Student Council on the work of UNICEF and to our guest speaker Mr Donnacha O Callaghan who is a UNICEF Ireland Ambassador. Molly spoke to the group about the work of UNICEF which focuses on projects such as the provision of life-saving food, water and sanitation projects, child protection, education and immunisation projects. She spoke passionately about the need to look outside ourselves and contribute to others and highlighted many of the UNICEF projects around the world. Mr O’Callaghan spoke about his own personal experiences of visiting some of these projects and the importance of raising funds for UNICEF’s lifesaving work. He plays such an important role as an advocate in raising awareness of issues facing children all around the world, and we sincerely thank him for giving us his time. Molly’s passionate support for UNICEF is so evident and we want to compliment her on highlighting this important organisation’s work and the action she took. The school donated €500 today and some of the proceeds of the Christmas Concert will also go towards same. Well done Molly!
