Study periods supervised by a teacher are provided each day for two hours after school. Sessions on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday begin at 4.00 and end at 6.00 with a five minute break at 5.00. On Wednesday study begins at 1.30 and ends at 3.30. These sessions are open to students in Third, Fifth and Sixth Year.
Evening study sessions are offered to Fifth and Sixth Years on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from September to May. These begin at 7.00 and end at 10.00. A third evening can be provided if student numbers are sufficient.
Any student wishing to opt for supervised study must agree to abide by the rules which allow other students to benefit fully from the session.
Supervised Study Rules and Procedures
Only students who are fully paid up and have returned the completed form to
the organising teacher may attend study. When a fully paid-up student is absent
for any reason no other student may take her place at study on that day.
- Students may not go to the shop between the end of classes and the beginning of afternoon study
- Students must arrive punctually for roll call at 4.00 (1.30 on
- Wednesdays/7 pm for night study), as late arrival disturbs other students.
- Students must stay for the full session of study.
- Full school uniform must be worn during study.
- The supervising teacher will decide where students sit during study and this decision is final.
- Students are expected to study in strict silence. No talking whatsoever is allowed.
- Eating and drinking is not allowed.
- No sharing or borrowing of books or equipment is allowed.
- Students may not pass notes to one another.
- Mobile phones must be switched off and out of reach.
- Practical homework in practical subjects may not be done during supervised study.
- Students may not leave the study hall to go to lockers or the toilet except during the five minute break half way through.
- Before students leave the study-hall, all papers must be put into the appropriate bins.
- A student who will be absent from study for any reason must, in advance, give a note of explanation signed by a parent in the school journal to the supervising teacher.
- Any student who disrupts study in any way will forfeit her place in
- Supervised Study without a refund of fees.
