Last week was Home Economics week in St Angela’s College. Home Economics is a subject with many components – theory, practical cookery and textiles/crafts. Work completed by Home Economics students was on display to give the other students an insight into the subject.
A display of crafts and baked items were on view in reception. Some very creative and skillful pieces have been completed. Well done to all the girls on their excellent work. Many thanks to all the students who entered the daily quiz.
A variety of activities were held to mark Home Ec. week including the following:
- Daily quiz with a Home Ec. related question open to all students.
- 1st year Food Pun Poster Competition. The winners were Noelle Mulcahy and Daisy Allen.
- 2nd year Cupcake Competition – Valentine’s theme. The winners were Regan O’ Riordan, Sophie Barry, Kate O’ Hare and Cara O’ Flynn.
- 3rd year – Design a cereal box – The winners were Úna Walsh, Clíona Brennan and Katie Kent.
- TY students were tasked with catering for a birthday party and completed a number of Sweet and Savoury dishes such as various cakes and pizza etc.
- Breakfast morning – for 5th and 6th year Home Economics classes.
- Staff – savoury snacks prepared by Home Ec teachers and students for staff morning break.
A huge thanks to the TY students who were actively involved in the planning and organisation of the activities.
