The 1st, 2nd and 3rd Years of the Junior Student Council are marking International Women’s Day on March 8th, with a week-long series of activities and presentations from March 2nd to 6th. They have chosen to celebrate this week to create awareness among all our students, so that they realise their potential and raise their voices for equal opportunity for whatever they choose to participate in – in school, their community or their personal lives. They have written and created classroom posters highlighting influential women in different subject areas and also filmed and edited a video montage asking students and staff ‘Who is the most influential woman in your life, and why?’ which they will present at morning assemblies. The JSC is also hosting an intercom campaign to highlight the week and organising a quiz based around an exhibition of photographs and biographies of influential women in Cork, our past pupils, Ireland and internationally.
