Dear Parents/ Guardians, hope you are all well. I just wanted to update you on some of the planned TY activities for November. Yesterday, TYs participated in a very successful Orienteering activity in the vicinity of the school. This Thursday and Friday, each group will have a half-day Poetry Workshop in school – an event that has garnered a lot of praise in previous years.
Next Monday, the 16th of November, we hope to complete the TY Gaisce Adventure Walk. The route for this excursion follows the Marina into Blackrock and around by Jacob’s Island. . This is a whole-year activity to fulfil the Adventure Journey element of the Gaisce Programme, which is a 17km walk. The walking route has been chosen for its safety and accessibility (it’s also flat!). We hope to leave from school in staggered groups, accompanied by teachers at 9 a.m. We will also stop for lunch along the way. Students will not have class on Monday 16th of November and will be allowed to go home once the walk is completed.
On Thursday, 19th of November, Stephen Kiernan (motivational speaker and author of “Brilliant Mondays”) will be coming to the school to deliver a two-hour presentation to TYs. We are very much looking forward to hearing his inspiring story.
TYs are already planning our annual Christmas celebrations in school and have already proven to be enthusiastic, energetic and creative girls!
Kind regards,
Sinead O’ Donovan
