This year, 24 Transition Year students took part in The Spring Study, a collaborative project with the Pregnancy Loss Research Group from CUMH and UCC. Over the course of the year, the students explored key topics including fertility, pregnancy loss, and reproductive justice.
They worked closely with the team from CUMH on a weekly basis and had the opportunity to visit the hospital during Pregnancy Loss Week, deepening their understanding of the subject matter through real-world engagement.
The project culminated in the creation of a book designed to educate teenagers about reproductive health. It features the 12 key points the students identified as the most important for young people to understand, empowering their peers with essential knowledge for the future.
On Thursday, 15th May, we celebrated the launch of this book at St Angela’s College. The event was a fitting tribute to the dedication and insight of the students involved.
A huge well done to the TY participants, to Ms. Whelan, and to the Pregnancy Loss Research Group for this outstanding achievement. We look forward to seeing how this important initiative continues to grow.
This link will bring you to an interview that the students did with 96FM, and an article on the project.
