Learning Support Department/Special Education Needs
St Angela’s College prides itself on its dynamic, progressive and holistic Learning Support Department. It fosters a culture of inclusivity for all students, forging relationships that support, scaffold and encourage all students to reach their full personal and academic potential.
Students with Special Educational Needs are given every support possible to reach their full potential and to grow and learn as individuals in a caring environment.
St. Angela’s College founder, St. Angela Merici, was a woman of great integrity, courage and inner strength. Her educational philosophy emphasises the dignity bestowed upon each individual, and she modelled gentleness, courtesy, love and respect in all her relationships. Her philosophy seeks to foster all these qualities in its students and it influences all aspects of the life of our school. St. Angela’s has a team of people devoted to each student’s development. In school, those directly involved in the student’s education and pastoral care are the class teacher, the subject teachers and the Resource/Learning Support teachers. A feature of the Learning Support Department is the emphasis we place on creating a friendly, supportive and safe environment. We recognise that a student’s self-esteem is of paramount importance to her all-round development, socially, emotionally and academically. We offer support in a variety of subjects with an emphasis on literacy and numeracy. We aim to enhance the student’s self-confidence and strive to enable every student receiving Learning Support to reach her full potential.
