This is a note to all students, staff and our extended community on behalf of the Junior and Senior Student Councils.
We want to thank you most sincerely for all your enthusiasm and participation in the Sponsored Walk last weekend. As you know, we organised this walk as a fundraiser for Pieta House. Their work is hugely important and our school has a connection with fundraising for Pieta House for the last several years.
We want to thank you for taking part and for your generous donations. Each person who took part made a difference to someone in the community who is suffering, and your donations help fund mental health support for those who need help and care. Thank you to everyone who walked, ran, donated or encouraged your family members to be involved – we really appreciate all your efforts.
As a school community, we walked 7,558.26 kilometres! A special mention to Cathy O’ Halloran in 3A who donated 225kms from her family to the 3rd Years. To Ms Ní Fhaoláin who ran 23kms. To Annabelle O’ Sullivan in 1C, whose father ran 25kms. To Eve Lyons in 2A who persuaded 6 of her family members to donate 30kms each. To Mr Curran our Principal, who walked and ran 13kms. And to Sinéad Roche and Sarah O’ Donoghue in 2C who walked and ran 42kms each – a big thank you for all your efforts and commitment to the cause! Together we raised €1,117.72. Mr Curran and Ms O Donovan have generously organised that the school will add to this total. So St Angela’s College will be making a donation to Pieta House of €1900.
The 1st, 2nd and 3rd Years came together, rose to the occasion and each reached the cumulative target of the 1000kms per year group. Well done to each of these year groups! The year group with the highest total of kilometres and therefore the winners of this challenge are the 3rd Years. Together they walked 2819.26 kms. What an incredible achievement! Well done to everyone! To celebrate and mark this achievement, the 3rd Years have a non-uniform day tomorrow Wednesday, May 12th and will get a tasty treat also! The 1st and 2nd Years will also receive a treat as recognition for their tremendous efforts. We are very proud of all our year groups and our students.
Thank you to everyone who took part in any way. Your support made this possible.
Yours sincerely, The Junior and Senior Councils of St Angela’s College.
