This year from 9th-13th December we celebrated Home Economics week in St Angelas College.
Home Economics is a subject with many components: theory, practical cookery and textiles/crafts. Work completed by Home Economics students was on display by reception to give the other students an insight to the subject.
A variety of activities were held to mark Home Ec. week including the following:
* A daily quiz with a Home Ec. related question open to all students.
* 1st year Food Pun Poster Competition and Healthy Lunchbox Competition. The winners were Evie McGrath, Livia Minichino and Anna Cashman.
* 2nd years baked and decorated homemade yule logs. The winners were Ruby Deasy, Rebecca Cotter, Anna Creagh, April Daly, Ruth Donnellan and Sadie Hurley.
* 3rd year students were given fruit platters to promote healthy eating.
* TY students had a very informative talk from three ladies promoting a career in food businesses.
* 5th and 6th year Home Economics classes had a breakfast morning with sweet treats and fruit.
* Staff were given handmade Christmas ornaments for their trees.
