We would like to wish a huge congratulations to Transition Year students Emma Dilworth, Mary Clare O’ Connell and Meabh O’ Donovan who were named as one of the 5 finalists in the Certified Irish Angus Schools Competition. The girls applied with a video pitch of their “Seaweed Solutions” idea. They then were called for an interview about their project. They were 1 of 45 teams to get through to the final presentation stage in Croke Park. They wowed the judges with their knowledge and enthusiasm, and we are so proud to say that they were announced as 1 of the 5 winners last week.
The 3 girls will attend the Ploughing Championship next year, where they will be presented with 5 calves to raise. They will be joining Mary Clare’s farm, where they will be raised over the next 18 months. The girls will be putting their theory into practice during this time. They will return to the Ploughing Championships and to the Croke Park presentations in the coming years. They will also get to go on a trip to Brussels. We are so proud of the girls for the huge amount of effort that they have put into this project, and we look forward to seeing the calves once they arrive in Cork!
