Last week, we celebrated Internet Safety Week in St Angela’s College. A colourful array of internet safety tips and advice on where to get help was displayed in reception for the week. Sophie O’ C and Hannah O’ S, 2B, carried out a survey on students from 1st – 6th year on their internet habits, how much their phone is supervised etc., and the results were very interesting!
First, second, third and fifth years had an extended assembly each morning, where four 3rd year students, Siun O’ D, Rumer Rose, Lucia O’ L and Sarah B, gave a presentation to students on Coco’s Law, the Right to be Forgotten, and where to go for help if it is needed. Different groups from 2B also presented various topics to each year group, switching daily.
In addition to presenting in assembly each morning, those four fantastic girls mentioned above have been working on creating an internet safety website for the past year. They have filled it with information on how to stay safe online, and what to do if you need help relating to cyberbullying or the sharing of inappropriate content. Students from 1st to 3rd year have created posters and videos over the past 2 years, and these have been incorporated into the website, to produce a resource suitable for all ages. We are very proud to launch their website today, which they have titled “Behind the Screen”. We would love for everybody to visit the website and see all the hard work that has been done by the girls, and all the other students who have contributed posters and videos to the project. It can be found at this link here. Well done to all on a very successful Internet Safety Week.
