Rowing

Students from St Angela’s who row, predominantly train with Cork Boat Club, Shandon rowing club and Lee Rowing club.  There is an annual schools rowing regatta which students can compete in.  Students need to have their access to their own boats and transport to the competition to enter.  The schools regatta is organised by Rowing Ireland and allows students from different clubs to row together representing St Angela’s.

Coordinating teacher:  Ms Siobhán O’Regan

Past pupil Margaret Cremen, is a former recipient of the St Angela’s Rising Star award and is a UCC Quercas sports scholarship recipient. She is from Rochestown, County Cork, and has been rowing since 2014. Margaret is a member of UCC Rowing Club, where she is studying Sports Studies and Physical Education with Irish.  Margaret’s highlights of rowing are representing Ireland at international competitions and competing at the Irish Rowing Championships with her club. Margaret won silver at the 2020 European U23 Championships in Duisburg, alongside Aoife Casey in the Lightweight Women’s Sculls. We will be proud to cheer on Margaret and Aoife who will be representing Ireland at the Tokyo Olympics this Summer.
